Colorful Wind

Interior Architecture- Large Scale (>5,000 sf)

Project Narrative

Working and living in an intense field can be overwhelming. My goal with my design is to create a space that mentally stimulates the brain to forget that they are in a hospital cafeteria by the use of textures and colors that immerse the body. The flow of space resembles the wind. What does the wind sound like? What does the wind feel like? What color is the wind? That is for the individual to discover in the space.
My cafeteria will serve as a safe space to decompress for individuals and families. As you move away from the food service, the seating is organized in a way to elongate your experience. Zone 1 is focused on a doctor-on-the-go and will access a quick route out. The second zone are for families looking to grab a quick bite to eat. This zone is organized in pods to create privacy. The third zone is a play area for children to explore and be immersed in colorful lighting. Lastly, the fourth zone is for individuals, such as a doctor or nurse, on break wanting to decompress. This space contains the most natural lighting and a soft immersive ceiling to relax.
