The Silver Slipper is a welcoming wine bar on the ground level of a historic dwelling in South Park, Dayton.
A triangular bar is the focal point and epicenter of the interior, shaped to maximize seating capacity while maintaining clear accessible routes throughout the compact space. A custom bar top with radiused corners allows small groups to gather at the ends of the bar, while open storage shelving above accommodates glassware and festive lighting systems.
The materials of the space are simple and neutral to showcase the form of the bar, highlighting a sophisticated yet playful atmosphere for all to enjoy.
Custom-designed banquettes line the perimeter of Silver Slipper’s dining room, housing storage under the seats, HVAC ventilation in the toe kicks, and recessed cove lighting in the backs to highlight textured walls.
Located on a busy thoroughfare, the interior organization flips “front” and “rear” zones of the former home to favor a quieter alleyway and patio addition. Visitors are greeted by inlaid silver “slippers” in a tiled entryway adjacent to a open kitchen where small bites are prepared. The programming of the interior establishes a thick service-oriented “threshold” between site and interior, further heightening a sense of arrival to an intimate neighborhood bar.
