Project Narrative
In this project, we were assigned to develop a way in which we could foster the way people understood and appreciated American architecture through both educational initiatives and design. Located in the lush meadows at the Barn at Fallingwater in Mill Run, Pennsylvania, we were able to create our building through the harmony and intersection of paths connecting to structures around our site. These paths then carve out what becomes our structure, a building that is vernacular, light, airy, and breathing with the nature around it. In addition, our hearth can be seen as a trail marker for hikers approaching from afar, playing off of how the silo on the opposite side of the site could be seen as a trail marker as well.
