The new Mason Municipal Aquatic Center provides the community an exciting pool complex including a leisure pool with a lazy river, a 50-meter competition pool, splash pad, 40’ slides, pool building and community room, shade shelters, lush landscaping, and plaza areas. The pool building and landscape design sets the aesthetic for future parks in the City of Mason and promotes the City’s brand.
The facility includes a central entry plaza defined by a bosque of trees with seating to welcome visitors. This entry plaza serves as an extension of the pool building’s iconic ‘wave’ covered breezeway providing a seamless transition into the City branded pool deck. As visitors enter the facility through the breezeway, their view opens into lush plant beds of ornamental grasses, flowering shrubs, vibrant perennials, and sculpted turf mounds framed by the beautiful blue water. The leisure pool includes a zero-depth entry with exciting play elements, including a large City branded dumping bucket, water jets, and floatable play structures. The leisure pool also features two 40’ tall slides, lap lanes, a lazy river, and a programmable plunge pool.
The leisure pool’s organic form is framed by beautiful plant beds and sculpted turf mounds. A radial double row of seating is located beneath shade structures at the northern edge of the pool deck which is mirrored south of the leisure pool where a 4,000 square foot splash pad is featured. The splash pad provides a colorful field of water play that includes water sprays, interactive spray amenities, and misting loops for a variety of age groups.
