Project Narrative

The new headquarters for CURIOSITY seeks to defy workplace convention, in process and in form, by presenting a space that surprises and intrigues. Inspired by the unexpected, the design embraces minimalist curves juxtaposed with existing building infrastructure. The shell of the building acts as a canvas, allowing the insertion of objects of various scales to infuse the space with personality. The objects are carefully curated pieces that each offer a unique story for the space.

A two-story "Cabinet of Curiosities" is a focal point near the entry that takes advantage of an existing opening in the floor. A focal stair feature is conceived as an abstract "question mark", where the dot at the base becomes a platform for speaking and presentation. The entire building is knit together by several bespoke millwork pieces, including a large pantry and many wall cabinets that continue the rounded motif. Vintage furniture can be found throughout and contributes to an eclectic narrative. Every office also features a "mini-version" of the Curiosity Cabinet, fostering a personal connection to the overall design ethos. Every object tells a story, and their collective diversity forms the unique experience of the space.
