Nostalgia

Interior Architecture- Small Scale (<5,000 sf)

Project Narrative

Nostalgia’s central intention was to create unique, head-turning moments that could draw patrons in off the busy streets of Over the Rhine. Nostalgia’s narrative is to be defined as uniquely expressive when celebrating minority wine makers. Bringing back the essence of smooth jazz through harmonizing moody, darker colors, bold patterns such as the black and white diagonal flooring, intimate seating, and a relaxing atmosphere, this upmarket lounge leaves customers going with the urge to return. The bar itself was inspired by vintage furniture and fixtures with rich wood tones and soft curves to articulate detail. The purposeful use of brass throughout was inspired by timeless and complex jazz instruments of many kinds. Placing the stage against a nano wall, allows the space to extend to the outdoor patio. When Nostalgia opens the doors, jazz music drifts through the air to neighboring passerbyers, restaurants and bars, creating a sense of community and connection. Achieving the beautiful balance between wine and jazz by pairing the rich history of wine with the bold moves of Jazz this space is goes beyond the future of the Cincinnati bar and music scene. Respecting the past and celebrating the present, this jazz lounge is submerged with the authentic sound, feel and aura of jazz that you can’t find anywhere else in the city.
